President
Gerald E. Ludwig, Jr. began his career with Ludwig-Walpole in 1966 after completing his degree in Risk Management and Insurance at Florida State University. He has raised his family in Sarasota and has remained active in the community throughout his career. He is a past president of the Sarasota Association of Insurance Agents and he remains an active member to this day.
He continues the principles that his father set when the company was founded. These principles include integrity, personal and professional service, and customer satisfaction. Ludwig-Walpole is a member of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
Vice-President
Robert S. Ludwig began his career with Ludwig-Walpole in 1998. Working as an Insurance Claims Adjuster for USF&G and Johns Eastern Company. He graduated in 1992 from Florida State University and also majored in Risk Management and Insurance. He has completed his Associate in Claims designation, is active in the Sarasota Association of Insurance Agents, and is on the Automation Committee at the Florida Association of Insurance Agents.
Robert is active in the community on the ideal that he is giving back what the community gave to him when he grew up here. After graduating from the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Sarasota Program he has served as a Day Chair for that program and on the program's Executive Committee. He is also the past chair of both the Small Business Council and the Chamber's Ethics Review Committee and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. Robert is also a member of the Citizens Financial Advisory Committee for the Sarasota County School Board. He is a member of the Ringling Fan Club and Sarasota Film Society, and an Ungala Gala committee member. He is a past member of Sertoma, a past member of Kiwanis, and a past Board of Director for the Crowley Museum and Nature Center.
Robert was a member of the task force for the Florida Association of Insurance Agents that started their Florida's Future Insurance Leaders program as well as a graduate of its inaugural class. His class was responsible for starting the Young Agents Council for FAIA. He has also served on the FAIA Automation Task Force and after chairing that task force, he moved to the FAIA Member Services Board of Directors. Upon completion of his term with that board, he was elected to FAIA's Board of Directors.
Robert works to continue what his grandfather began, his father continues, and what he wants to leave to his children; a locally focused, customer driven insurance agency.
Secretary / Treasurer
Gerald E. Ludwig, III was welcomed to Ludwig-Walpole in 2001 after a career at Johns Eastern Company. "Tres" was a Team Assistant to a Workers Compensation unit and after 4.5 years with them, joined the family team. He is a licensed Customer Service Representative and brings tremendous support to the office.
Tres is in avid fisherman and is a member of the Sarasota Sportsman Association. The Sportsman Association promotes conservation, education, and responsibility for many different outdoor sports. He also is an active member in the Life of Riley Foundation. This foundation promotes awareness about pediatric brain tumors, raises money for a cure, and provides support to and a voice for families whose children live with these tumors.
Tres exemplifies the continuation of grandfather’s ideal of personal, professional service.
